The trucking industry is the backbone of the American economy. It’s responsible for transporting 72.5% of the nation's freight by weight. Given that staggering it statistic, it may surprise many—especially those outside of the industry—that we are in the throes of a national driver shortage. According to the American Trucking Associations (ATA), the industry was short about 78,000 drivers in 2022, with this huge gap ballooning in the coming years.
The impact of this shortage ripples across the supply chain, impacting everything from consumer goods availability to manufacturing and construction timelines—and everything around, in between and then some. In this challenging environment, Aim Transportation Solutions offers a robust answer through its dedicated contract carriage services—by hiring and retaining truck drivers, supplying and maintaining trucks, providing 24/7-365 operational support and much, much more—ensuring businesses continue to thrive despite the shortage.
Brakes are the most vital component of any vehicle's safety system, especially for fully loaded 20-, 30-, 40-ton semi-trucks. Brakes must be capable of bringing these massive trucks to a stop, often under challenging conditions. Properly maintained brakes can mean the difference between a safe stop and a catastrophic accident.
Because of this, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) holds an important initiative known as Brake Safety Week. More specifically, Brake Safety Week is a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and driver inspection and regulatory compliance enforcement initiative, a brake-safety awareness and outreach opportunity, and a brake-related inspection and violation data-collection project, and this year’s initiative is set for August 25-31.

At Aim Transportation Solutions, we have a motto: Service is our only product. That is, businesses can lease or buy trucks from anyone. However, it’s the brand of service behind those trucks that makes all the difference.
To bolster the family-owned and -operated company’s long-standing motto, Aim’s maintenance leadership team, along with leaders from across Aim’s departments and division, including Aim President, Scott Fleming, traveled from across the country to Chautauqua, NY, the location of this year’s Maintenance Directors Meeting.
This bi-annual meeting fosters strategic discussions, careful planning and, ultimately, sets the stage for finishing the second half of the year stronger than ever by developing new initiatives aimed at elevating Aim’s unparalleled brand of commercial truck maintenance service.
Coming off the heels of last month’s International Roadcheck, it’s time to prepare for another high-visibility, high-impact national law enforcement event: Operation Safe Driver Week, an annual event organized by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA). While the International Roadcheck focuses more on compliance and the mechanical fitness of commercial trucks and equipment, Operation Safe Driver Week has all eyes on the driver and their actions behind the wheel.
Operation Safe Driver Week’s primary goal is to increase road safety by reducing risky driving behaviors through heightened enforcement and education. From July 7-13 this year, law enforcement agencies across North America will intensify their efforts to identify and mitigate unsafe driving practices by both commercial and passenger vehicle drivers.
