Aim Transportation Solutions’ Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), Patty Durkin, has been inducted into the Marquis Who’s Who and shortly after was notified that she also is included in Who’s Who Top Professional Series for her numerous noteworthy accomplishments along with her high visibility and prominence in the human resources field.
Since 1899, Marquis Who’s Who has chronicled the lives of the most accomplished individuals and innovators from every significant field of endeavor, including politics, business, medicine, law, education, art, religion and entertainment. This year, Marquis celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2023, and Who’s Who in America® remains an essential biographical source for thousands of researchers, journalists, librarians and executive search firms around the world.
The Marquis Who’s Who recognized Durkin for her nearly four decades of experience in human resources as well as her extraordinary leadership as a chief human resources officer. She brings to her CHRO role an extensive expertise in benefits, employee engagement, recruiting and strategic development, honed over a successful career of increasingly senior roles at Aim.
In her 18 years with Aim, Patty Durkin has directed her passion toward implementing the highest quality employee programs and benefits; ongoing learning and career development programs; nurturing a positive, inclusive work culture; developing a new customer service program; and investing in the health and wellness of every Aim employee. Beyond those tangibles, Patty Durkin has been, and continues to be, a tremendous leader and an inspiration to those around her.
“With Patty being inducted into the Marquis Who’s Who, a lot of people will just be learning what we’ve known for nearly 20 years: Patty is a talented, brilliant and passionate individual who has been a guiding force for our company and has made long-lasting, positive impacts on countless lives in and outside our walls,” said Aim President, Scott Fleming. “Patty truly exemplifies the profound impact one person can make on an entire organization and their community at large.”
Patty’s success is born from her inherent compassion and drive to help people succeed in and outside of the workplace along with her robust educational and professional background. Patty holds a bachelor’s degree in human resources and an associate degree in business management from Youngstown State University. She is also a graduate of Ursuline High School in Youngstown, OH, (home to Aim headquarters) and the Choffin Career Center’s legal/medical secretary program. In 2006, she received her Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification.
Before joining Aim in 2006, Durkin spent 15 years as a human resource manager for Denman Tire and served as an account executive for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services.
In 2017, Durkin was nominated for the Athena Award, an honor given to women who have attained and personified the highest level of professional excellence in their professions while devoting time and energy toward the betterment of the community.
Durkin attributes her success to her mentors, whose guidance throughout her career has been invaluable. Her parents laid the foundation for her spiritual development to accomplish a successful work-life balance. As she nears retirement, she is excited to take on more speaking engagements related to human resources, wellness and retention, and dedicate more time to helping others in her field.
Patty Durkin is active with several industry-related organizations, including the Society for Human Resource Management and the United Way through Aim, and she is active with her church. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, including her husband Richard, many siblings and great-nieces and -nephews, and thrifting and refinishing furniture.
